Location: Fayetteville, AR
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8a-5p
Pay: $19–$23/hour
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Wheelchair & Rehabilitation Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, assembling, delivering, and modifying power and manual wheelchairs, seating systems, and adaptive equipment. This position bridges basic repair work and advanced Complex Rehab Technology (CRT), serving as a key technical partner to Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs), rehab specialists, and clinical teams.

This role provides increasing autonomy, technical challenge, and a clearly defined career pathway into senior technician, leadership, and ATP roles.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

This role goes beyond basic assembly. You will:

  • Diagnose & repair power and manual wheelchairs
  • Assemble and modify custom rehab & adaptive equipment
  • Perform field service calls, deliveries, and setups
  • Coordinate:
    • Parts ordering
    • Loaner equipment
    • Repair documentation & billing compliance
  • Collaborate directly with:
    • Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs)
    • Rehab specialists
    • Clinical teams
  • Maintain:
    • Inventory accuracy
    • Warehouse organization
    • Service workflow efficiency

You’ll work independently, but never unsupported.


Training & Advancement

Requirements

 

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–4 years of relevant experience preferred in one or more of the following:
    • Mechanical repair
    • Electrical diagnostics
    • Field service work
    • DME / CRT
    • Automotive, diesel, HVAC, biomedical, or industrial maintenance
  • Prior wheelchair or CRT experience preferred but not required

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to follow technical specifications and assembly instructions
  • High level of accuracy in documentation and reporting
  • Professional communication with patients, caregivers, and clinical staff
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 85 pounds occasionally (with proper equipment and team assistance)
  • Ability to stand, walk, drive, and move throughout an 8-hour workday
  • Ability to safely navigate homes, clinics, and medical facilities

Licensing & Compliance

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required
  • Must maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance
  • Must meet company background and safety requirements
