Job Summary:

The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting and advancing environmental, health, and safety programs across a chemical blending operation and two additional facilities (an out-of-state warehouse and a chemical production site). This role focuses on maintaining regulatory compliance, promoting a strong safety culture, and reducing risk through proactive hazard identification, training, and continuous improvement.

This position is well-suited for an early-career EHS professional (1–3 years of experience) looking to gain hands-on, multi-site experience in chemical manufacturing and distribution environments

  

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Health

  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of EHS policies, procedures, and programs across all assigned sites.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments within chemical blending, production, and warehouse operations.
  • Identify workplace hazards and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and follow-up actions for near misses, injuries, and property damage.
  • Assist with industrial hygiene monitoring, PPE assessments, and ergonomic evaluations as needed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, and visibility on the production floor.

Environmental Compliance

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, DOT, hazardous waste management).
  • Support chemical management programs including SDS maintenance, labeling, and inventory tracking.
  • Assist with waste management, spill prevention, and environmental reporting requirements.
  • Participate in environmental inspections and regulatory audits.

Training & Communication

  • Coordinate and deliver EHS training programs (e.g., Hazard Communication, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Response).
  • Support onboarding safety training for new employees.
  • Maintain EHS documentation, records, and training logs.

Multi-Site Support

  • Provide EHS support and guidance to one out-of-state warehouse and one additional chemical production facility.
  • Travel periodically to conduct audits, inspections, and training at remote locations.
  • Act as a point of contact for EHS issues across assigned facilities, escalating concerns as appropriate.

Continuous Improvement

  • Track EHS metrics and assist in reporting safety performance indicators.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing incidents, improving compliance, and enhancing operational safety.
  • Stay current on EHS regulations and best practices relevant to chemical manufacturing and warehousing.

Requirements

  

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or warehouse environment.
  • Bilingual      in both English and Spanish – both written and verbal 
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and basic environmental compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities across multiple sites.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.

Preferred

  • Experience in chemical blending, chemical manufacturing, or hazardous materials handling.
  • Familiarity with OSHA PSM, EPA regulations, DOT shipping requirements, or hazardous waste management.
  • Professional certifications (or progress toward) such as ASP, GSP, or CHMM.
  • Experience conducting safety training or audits
