Role Overview

 

The Post Closer plays a vital role in the completion of loans by identifying errors, missing documentation and discrepancies through the post close audit process. This role is responsible for communicating any items found from the audit to the appropriate stakeholders (including but not limited to the settlement agent, loan originators, loan processors, closers, and borrowers) and remediates files for complete execution. Mortgage Solutions has unique opportunity for individuals with mortgage experience to join our Post Closing Team.  Candidates must believe in superior customer service and enjoy working in a high performing environment where integrity and honesty are paramount. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure timely receipt of collateral packages from settlement agents.
  • Conduct thorough audits of original loan documents against the Post-Closing Audit checklist to verify proper execution and compliance.
  • Proactively identify errors or discrepancies found during the audit review and manage their resolution, including communicating with the appropriate parties (e.g., settlement agents, originators, closers, and borrowers) to request corrections and missing documentation.
  • Notate all issues and findings during the audit review for team reference and operational tracking.
  • Scanned closing packages need to be accurately auto-assign or sort documents into the appropriate folders electronically.
  • Ship loan packages to the corresponding investors, adhering strictly to stated Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure successful delivery of loan packages and upload confirmation of receipt to the loan files within the LOS.
  • Communicate with investors and promptly respond to inquiries/suspense’s to resolve errors identified during the shipping and purchase process.

 

  • Work diligently to ensure the loan is successfully purchased by the MERS Registration: Register MERS numbers for newly funded loans and process MERS number transfers for existing loans, adhering to stated SLAs.
  • Process the payment of mortgage insurance premiums and guarantee fees.
  • Insure VA and FHA loans, and upload loan note guarantees for USDA loans, all within stated SLAs.
  • Respond to all phone calls and emails promptly, adhering to stated communication SLAs.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Fundamental knowledge of regulatory, agency, and investor requirements essential for post-closing document review and delivery.
  • Possess excellent analytical and decision-making skills combined with keen attention to detail to accurately audit and correct closing packages.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to process a high volume of files efficiently.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, high production environment, with a commitment to being deadline-oriented.
  • Ability to readily embrace change in procedures, regulations, or technology.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required to effectively resolve discrepancies with various parties (settlement agents, investors, internal teams).
  • Dedicated to delivering a superior level of customer service in all interactions.
  • A dedicated and reliable team player with the proven ability to work independently to meet individual production goals.

 

Experience and Education

  • Two (2) or more years of mortgage industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required; experience with industry software is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

  • Stationary position; prolonged periods at a desk and working on the computer.
  • Occasional movement about inside the office to walk to offices and office machinery.
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, stooping, bending, standing, reaching.
