About the Role

Description

RAM Aviation, Space & Defense is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Since 1975, we’ve supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission-critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. As one of Southern Utah’s largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high-skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing. From our advanced facility in St. George, we build the future of aerospace—on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here!

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you are the gatekeeper of excellence for our supply chain and the guardian of compliance for our Repair Station. You will act as the technical bridge between RAM and our external partners, ensuring that every component entering our facility meets the rigorous standards of space flight. Beyond the supply chain, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our FAA/EASA Part 145 Repair Station certification. Whether you are conducting a supplier risk assessment, validating a First Article Inspection, or leading a Six Sigma project to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), your work ensures that our missions remain "go for launch."

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supplier Performance Management: Maintain and analyze Supplier Scorecards, tracking On-Time Delivery (OTD), Quality, and NCR responsiveness. You will review the Approved Supplier List (ASL) to ensure work is awarded to qualified sources.
  • Compliance & Validation: Ensure strict adherence to aerospace standards. You will validate AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI), ensure PPAP requirements are met, and review statutory/regulatory requirements for compliance.
  • Repair Station (FAA/EASA) Support: Serve as a key support function for RAM’s Part 145 Repair Station. This includes documenting annual training for personnel and supporting FAA/EASA audits to maintain our repair certifications.
  • Risk & Contract Review: Review risk assessments for potential suppliers to assist in award decisions. You will perform contract reviews to communicate quality flow-down requirements to Buyers and QA.
  • Problem Solving & CI: Drive Six Sigma efforts to lower Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). You will assist with formal deviation requests, initiate supplier surveys, and support the internal machine shop in resolving quality issues.
  • Transition & Development: Support the development of qualified operators and assist in transitioning inspection duties to the value streams where applicable.

Requirements

  • Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited program is required.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in Quality Engineering, specifically regarding manufacturing processes and supply chain quality.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 (First Article), and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
  • Repair Station: Familiarity with FAA/EASA Part 145 regulations is a significant plus.
  • Inspection: Hands-on experience with mechanical inspection and general machining processes.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to negotiate requirements with suppliers and present data to internal management.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and be able to sit and stand constantly to support floor and office activities.
