Job Role: Accounting & Tax Support VA

Compensation range: $1,500 AUD - $1,800 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: Our client is a professional accounting and tax firm providing reliable, practical financial solutions to individuals and businesses. They specialize in bookkeeping, tax compliance, and advisory support, with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and Australian regulatory compliance.

Role Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting & Tax Support Virtual Assistant with hands-on experience in Australian taxation to support our accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including transaction coding, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Prepare financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
  • Prepare and assist with the lodgement of Business Activity Statements (BAS)
  • Handle superannuation processing and compliance requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of individual and business tax returns in accordance with Australian tax regulations
  • Support accountants with accounting, tax, and administrative tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ensure compliance with ATO requirements, deadlines, and record-keeping standards
  • Communicate clearly with internal team members to resolve discrepancies and follow up on required documentation
  • Demonstrated experience working with Australian tax and accounting
  • Strong understanding of BAS, GST, PAYG, superannuation, and ATO processes
  • Experience assisting with individual and business tax returns
  • Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, or other accounting software
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal oversight
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
