Job Description

Make your mark as Group Tender Engineer at Smit Lamnalco.

As a group tender engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the preparation and submission of competitive bids, contributing to the company's success in securing contracts and growing our market presence.

You will work closely and be immersed in our industry with the senior tender manager and will be mentored by the chief commercial officer (CCO).
This role offers a clear development path: within 9 to 18 months, you will be supported to grow into an independent tender manager role, where you will take full ownership of tender submissions and be a business partner for all departments within Smit Lamnalco.

Your responsibilities as Group Tender Engineer:

  • Manage tenders: Support the global commercial team in preparing and delivering pre-qualifications, tender proposals, and client presentations, by coordinating, compiling, analyzing and organizing input, data, estimated costs, pricing, and feedback to produce comprehensive and winning submissions.
  • Coordinate tender processes: Coordinate and drive the commercial and tender processes for new and existing business opportunities, ensuring alignment across stakeholders and departments.
  • Pipeline management: Maintain and monitor the tender pipeline and ensure accurate data and effective use of the SL CRM system throughout the project and bid lifecycle.
  • Commercial framework: Maintain and implement the commercial framework, ensuring consistency in guidelines, formats, and models for all tender submissions.
  • Market and operational analysis: Provide market and operational analysis to support bid strategies during the pre-tender phase and facilitate the post-award handover by summarizing and briefing relevant teams on tender outcomes.
  • Commercial framework: Maintain and implement the commercial framework, ensuring consistency in guidelines, formats, and models for all tender submissions.

Your qualities and experience

You can move ahead as Group Tender Engineer if you have:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in business economics, business administration, engineering or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess market trends and operational data.
  • At least 2 years of work experience, preferably in the maritime, dredging or B2B industry
  • Experience in tendering and the bid process is a plus.
  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A good command of written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel abroad.
