About the Role

Description

 

Under the Director of IT, the Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for the strategy, design, implementation and administration of the data warehousing and reporting system within the Kilcoy Digital Environment. This role will support and enhance existing Excel, Power BI and Crystal Reports systems as well as lead the way in converting these multiple different systems into one aggregate cloud-based data warehouse. The BI Engineer will work directly and collaboratively with end users to capture business needs while standardizing and prioritizing requests to migrate aspects of those systems to a cloud-based data BI warehouse. The position will coordinate activities with a cross functional IT team and business stakeholders to ensure successful support of legacy systems as well as migration to data models that drives meaningful and actionable intelligence for the business.


Role and Responsibilities


· Ensures high availability and end user self-service of reporting and data solutions

· Designs and implements a migration strategy to move towards a cloud based BI data warehouse

· Builds, supports and enhances exiting Power BI, Crystal Reports and excel solutions based on

business requirements identified by key stakeholders and end users

· Designs, implements and maintains all data connectors for cloud data warehouse ingestion

· Automates report creation and push notifications / exceptions around data and business intelligence

· Manages and maintains multiple SQL databases for performance, security and quality

· Gathers requirements needed to support report/solution creation by collaboratively engaging with

local and offsite stakeholders.

· Manage third-party service vendors and report progress to IT management

· Conducts casual and formal training on best practices with end users

· Primary contact and ownership for data, reporting and BI in the event of after-hour emergencies

Requirements

 

Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements


· Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Engineering, Business, or related field/equivalent

experience Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements

· 5-10 years of relevant data reporting systems experience and toolset

· 2+ years of cloud based data warehouse / business intelligence tools

· Power BI/ Fabric experience with DAX as Must. 

· Understanding of Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) preferred 

· Experience with data warehousing of ERP systems preferred 

· Food Service Commercial product industry experience preferred 

· Experience with Microsoft Azure preferred 

· Experience with SQL advanced toolsets such as REDGATE SQL Toolbelt preferred 

· Experience operating in Agile/SCRUM teams preferred 


 This individual should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:


· Demonstrated ability to migrate data to a cloud based BI product 

· Extensive experience with SQL Server and SSAS (Tabular) databases required 

· Ability to design, support and implement new versions and report enhancements of MS-excel, Power BI and Crystal Reports 

· Demonstrated ability to perform advanced TSQL queries/joins (CRUD operations) as well as SQL database management and normalization of different databases and repositories 

· Create SSIS packages to ingest new data into the data warehouse 

· Ability to investigate data/tables/schemas and reverse engineer data dictionary mappings and relationships · Demonstrated ability to manage, profile and troubleshoot SQL database issues queries and performance 

· Demonstrated ability in ETL package creation/automation and data replication/shipping 

· Demonstrated ability to translate business domain subject matter and perform data analysis and reports against business databases and/or applications 

· Excellent time management skills with ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently as well as prioritization 

· Ability to think holistically to create standardized solutions from multiple different requests and datasets 

· Ability to act as a liaison between end users and technical staff to help align scope and provide solutions to address business and stakeholders’ data and reporting needs 

· Must be attentive to detail 

· Ability to think critically, both quantitatively and qualitatively 

· Familiarity with Accounting, Sales, and Supply Chain business functions a plus 

· Accepts direction, coaching, and constructive feedback well. 


 Work Environment and Physical Requirements The work environment is a general office setting and a cold production setting with concrete floors. This position requires the team member to: 


· Ability to stand or sit for an extended period of time 

· Ability to frequently reach, grasp, stoop, bend, push, pull, kneel, squat, and twist to store or retrieve materials. 

· Dexterity of hand and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. 

· Vision: Must possess vision (which may be corrected0 to read small print and computer screens. 

· Speech and Hearing: Must possess hearing (which may be corrected) to use a telephone and to hear discussions and questions. The individual is required to speak clearly and distinctly. 

· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs · Stand and walk in cold temperatures (38 degrees) for several hours, when needed

 Kilcoy has adopted the SQF System for food safety management and is under continuous USDA meat & poultry jurisdiction.
