Embedded Linux Software Engineer

Our industry-leading software drives the adoption of robotic fleets and is recognized by the U.S. government as the future standard for its drone programs.&nbsp;</p> <p>We are looking for an Embedded Linux Software Engineer taking on tasks within the AuterionOS ecosystem, from writing applications to adding driver support for new peripherals, maintaining system services and optimizing performance on embedded platforms. You will be working closely with:</p> <ul> <li>Linux running on embedded hardware</li> <li>C/C++, Python &amp; Bash codebases</li> <li>Engaged and friendly engineers from across Auterion</li> </ul> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work within the Board Support team and collaborate with other development teams to build leading-edge products.</li> <li>Add features, solve bugs, write tests and improve the performance of software components running on AuterionOS, Auterion’s custom embedded Linux distribution.</li> <li>Collaborate with engineering and product teams to understand both internal and customer use cases.</li> <li>Propose new software solutions and take ownership of the implementation. Your technical expertise will have a huge impact on bringing Auterion’s drone products to market.</li> <li>Provide expert support (L3) to customers facing technical issues.</li> <li>Write clear and concise internal documentation, in addition to contributing to the public-facing knowledge base.</li> <li>Participate in daily stand-ups, as well as release planning and task prioritization meetings.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications and Skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>B.Sc./M.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.</li> <li>3+ years of experience writing object-oriented C++ and/or Python code in a professional setting.</li> <li>Extensive experience working with embedded architectures, including cross-compilation, debugging, and performance optimization.</li> <li>Expert Linux skills, with an excellent grasp of command line operations, resource management, systems services and networking.</li> <li>Deep knowledge of the Linux kernel, embedded device drivers, device tree configuration and u-boot.</li> <li>Experience with Debian/Ubuntu-based systems, systemd, Debian packaging workflows and managing complex Docker environments.</li> <li>Knowledge of OTA updates (e.g. mender).</li> <li>Proficient in networking concepts across all layers of the OSI model, including connectors, and hardware interfaces, IP addressing, routing protocols, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, etc.</li> <li>Skilled in using network diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump) to identify and resolve network issues.</li> <li>Basic embedded security knowledge, such as secure boot on embedded devices and/or UEFI, boot chain verification.</li> <li>Proven experience with network security protocols (e.g., SSL/TLS, VPNs) and best practices for securing embedded devices, such as secure boot and encryption mechanisms.</li> <li>Basic electrical engineering experience, such as familiarity with schematics and the instrumentation required to debug communication over I2C, SPI, UART, CAN bus.</li> <li>Bonus: Experience with video streaming and MIPI CSI drivers.</li> <li>Bonus: Experience with NVIDIA Jetson platforms and their associated BSP packages</li> <li>Bonus: Experience with NXP iMX8 platforms and their associated BSP packages</li> <li>Bonus: Previous contributions to open source projects, especially in the Linux ecosystem.</li> <li>Bonus: Experience with CI/CD systems, such as Jenkins, GitHub actions, GitLab CI.</li> <li>Experience working in an agile environment, providing daily updates in stand-ups and managing tasks in a sprint board.</li> <li>A product-oriented mindset, with an eagerness to drive forward project initiatives</li> </ul> <p><strong>Benefits</strong></p> <ul> <li>Flexible working hours</li> <li>Stock Options</li> <li>Generous holiday allowance</li> <li>Company pension plan&nbsp;</li> <li>Car parking&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Enhanced maternity &amp; paternity leave</li> <li>Mental health and wellbeing support</li> <li>Learning and development opportunities</li> </ul> <p><strong>About Auterion</strong></p> <p>We are building the leading software platform for AI-powered autonomous systems for enterprise and government customers.
