About the Position
Start Date: August 1st, 2026
Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School seeks a highly organized, proactive, and relational professional to serve as Assistant to the Division Heads of the Lower School (TK–4) and Upper School (5–8). This role is a key operational and communication partner, supporting the day-to-day functioning of both divisions and helping ensure a cohesive, responsive, and student-centered school experience. The Assistant to the Division Heads works closely with division leadership, faculty, students, and families, balancing discretion, efficiency, and warmth. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced school environment, anticipates needs, and believes deeply in supporting students, educators, and families through thoughtful systems and strong relationships.
The Assistant to the Division Heads plays a vital role in ensuring that the school runs smoothly behind the scenes so that students and teachers can thrive. This position supports leadership in creating coherent, responsive systems that reflect Hausner’s commitment to belonging, care, and meaningful learning.
Core Responsibilities
Administrative & Operational Support
- Provide high-level administrative support to both Division Heads, including scheduling internal meetings, coordinating conferences, and tracking deadlines and action items
- Track internal / external documentation to ensure smooth follow-through across divisions
- Support operational logistics related to student programming, events and transitions
- Maintain organized records and information with discretion and professionalism
Communication & Family Partnership
- Serve as a welcoming and responsive point of contact for families, students, and faculty
- Draft, organize, and distribute communications in collaboration with Division Heads
- Help ensure communication is clear, timely, and aligned with the school’s values and culture
Student-Centered Support
- Assist with coordination of student support meetings, documentation, and follow-up (e.g., SST meetings, behavior support plans, academic interventions)
- Help track student-related information to support continuity and coherence
- Support the Division Heads in responding to student needs in ways that are developmentally appropriate, compassionate, and consistent
Faculty & Community Collaboration
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to support daily school operations
- Help coordinate onboarding, transitions, and special events within and across divisions
- Serve as a connector across Lower and Upper School to promote shared practices

- Exceptional organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with flexibility and calm
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- Warm, approachable presence with students, families, and colleagues
- Proficiency with digital tools (Google Workspace, scheduling platforms, databases)
- Ability to anticipate needs and solve problems proactively
Requirements
Education/Experience
- Experience working in an educational setting
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Compensation
- $70-90k annually, commensurate with experience
