About the Role

Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Printing Press Operator will operate multiple printing presses depending on the production schedule. You will use an assortment of screen printing and digital printing Direct-to-Garment (DTG) equipment to decorate garments. This position will be cross-trained in multiple print processes to support the department as needed and pay is tiered depending on flexibility and ability to operate multiple pieces of equipment while regularly meeting minimum hourly performance and maintaining extremely low defect rates.

  • Level 1– able to effectively operate one press.
  • Level 2– able to effectively operate two presses.
  • Level 3– able to effectively operate all 4 presses.

This position works closely with the material flow and finishing teams to make sure all products are decorated on time and ahead of schedule to support business needs.

DUTIES

  • Setup and operate press equipment, including loading and adjusting screens or files, press settings, refilling inks, tool selection, test printing, setting temperatures correctly, and monitoring production quality while operating.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning printheads and other tools, removing waste, changing filters and ink lines according to established schedules and when necessary
  • Examine the job information to determine garment styles and quantities to be printed, proper art placement, specifications, colors, color sequences, variations, and any other details required to produce the order accurately.
  • Meet all minimum production rates and communicate any production obstacles encountered.
  • Work with press assistants and support teams to ensure all necessary supplies and tools are in place before needing them.
  • Complete schedule on time, at pace, maintaining defect rates below established standards (1%).
  • Mentor, support, and cross-train other employees when requested by supervisors.
  • Support the overall schedule with other Production departments as assigned by supervisors

  • Verify proper quantities have been printed before cleaning and breaking down the press for the next job.

  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in common units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Must comply with any company policy of wearing personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, gloves, safety glasses, etc. where required
  • Must be available to work hours and days as needed based on changing schedule demands, including overtime. Schedules and shifts may change throughout the year. Schedule requirements may include working days, afternoons, nights, 1st shift, 2nd shift, or weekends as needed.


EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED (General Education Degree)

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time; work in and around a variety of industrial machinery and presses; bend over, squat, or climb
  • Able to frequently move and lift up to 40 lbs when necessary
  • Prolonged periods of working on screen printing equipment
  • Must be able to reach, grasp and operate all buttons and controls 
  • Excellent vision including ability to adjust focus, close vision, distant vision, color awareness, and attention to small details
  • This position will require working in environments with varying temperatures, including warm or cold conditions, based on season, location or operational demands
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically high
