Job Purpose: To accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods: to include Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Job tasks:

Responsible for food preparation and customer service at an a la carte station, this role involves operating kitchen equipment, measuring ingredients, and ensuring high-quality service. Also responsible for preparing daily meals for staff and residents' community wide. Prior experience in healthcare is advantageous due to the diverse dietary requirements of our resident population.


Tasks include:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in measuring, mixing, and handling ingredients.
  • Ensures accurate planning of production requirements and procurement of supplies.
  • Attends allergy and foodborne illness training sessions.
  • Adheres to HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Reports accidents and injuries promptly.
  • Participates in safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
  • Executes complex recipes with precision and creativity.
  • Assists with special diet meal preparation and inventory management.
  • Acts as a lead cook, guiding and training less experienced staff.
  • Independently performs advanced cooking tasks with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • 3-10 years of cooking experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Texture diet knowledge (preferred)
  • Experience in a senior home / skilled nursing facility (highly preferred)
  • Willingness to adapt to existing processes
  • Maturity of judgment and behavior.
  • Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule is helpful.
  • Must comply with any dress code requirements.
  • Must be able to work weekends and some holidays.
  • Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity.

Physical Requirements:

  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds
