About the Role

As an Occupational Therapist, you will assess, plan, and implement personalized treatment programs designed to achieve the best possible outcomes for each patient. This is an acute care position.

 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients’ abilities and limitations.
  • Establish treatment goals based on evaluation findings and referral reasons, considering neuromuscular movement and stability, sensation, activities of daily living (ADLs), perception, cognition, vocational and prevocational abilities, developmental status, dysphagia, manual muscle testing, range of motion, body mechanics, and other relevant assessments.

  • Assess home and work environments, recommending physical barrier modifications or ergonomic adaptations as needed.

  • Administer therapy according to established plans, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice.

  • Recommend adaptive equipment, complete justification documentation, and coordinate delivery.

  • Re-evaluate patients regularly to assess progress and provide discharge recommendations when appropriate.

  • Collaborate and co-treat with therapists from other disciplines.

  • Fabricate splints as required.

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of patient care in accordance with established standards.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapy goals, treatment methods, home program execution, and injury prevention strategies.

  • Supervise patient care activities performed by aides, assistants, attendants, and volunteers.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program approved by the Occupational Therapy Association.

Skills:

  • Provide patient services and supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA/COTA), Therapy Aides, and students.

  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills to facilitate program development and implementation.

  • Competent in assessing and interpreting patient needs based on age-appropriate knowledge of normal growth, development, and required treatment plans.

  • Skilled in developing home programs and conducting family training to support patient progress.

  • Knowledgeable in the selection and use of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and adaptive devices.

  • Proficient in relevant computer applications to enhance therapy documentation and communication.

Licensure

  • Occupational Therapist License required.
  • BLS for Provider certification from the American Heart Association required.

Pay Range

USD $47.74 - USD $68.28 /Hr.
