We're in search of an exceptional Backend Engineering Team Leader, someone with a wealth of hands-on software engineering expertise. As part of our core product team, you'll be at the forefront of crafting a groundbreaking solution that leverages cutting-edge technology to combat fraud. Our ultimate goal is to equip our clients with resilient safeguards against chargebacks, empowering them to safeguard their revenue and optimize their profitability. • Take a leading role in the team of talented engineers, share your experience and demonstrate your expertise building our market-leading product
• Design and implement the infrastructure of the system including the ingestion, algorithms, performance optimizations, and interactive applications
• Build a highly scalable data platform for diversified and complex data flows
• Have end-to-end ownership: Design, build, ship, measure, and maintain our backend services. You build it - you own it
• Work closely with our fantastic Product team that created an industry-leading SaaS Product-Led-Growth offering

Requirements

Qualifications:

• 3-4 years of managerial experience, leading small-medium engineering teams - Must
• 7+ years of experience building production-grade backend systems, with deep expertise in TypeScript and Node.js - Must
• Strong track record designing and evolving distributed, event-driven architectures (microservices, asynchronous systems, serverless where appropriate) - Must
• Experience building cloud-native systems on AWS, with a strong understanding of tradeoffs in scalability, reliability, and cost - Must
• Hands-on experience using Kafka in real production environments, with strong understanding of internals (partitioning, ordering, consumer groups, delivery semantics, scaling, failure modes) - Must
• Practical experience with Docker-based workflows and modern containerized development practices - Must
• Familiarity with Kubernetes (including EKS) and/or ECS, and understanding how services behave when deployed and scaled in container orchestration environments - Must
• Strong experience working with both NoSQL (MongoDB) and relational databases (Postgres), with clear understanding of data modeling and tradeoffs - Must
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent experience

(AI-driven engineering practices)

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) as part of daily engineering workflows - Must
• Experience leveraging LLMs to improve productivity in coding, design exploration, technical writing, and analysis - Must
• Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and having built small tools or integrations using them
• Ability to critically assess AI-generated output and apply strong engineering judgment
• Interest in emerging AI tooling and how it can enhance, not replace, strong software engineering practices
