HR Generalist, Employee Relations

Description
Under general direction, is responsible for providing support for agency management employees by working with them on: improving their management and communication skills; understanding and adhering to agency policies and procedures; writing warning notices; reinforcing the importance of monitoring attendance and lateness in their programs and conducting management related workshops.
The duties and responsibilities of the HR Generalist, Employee Relations will include, but are not limited to the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works with management in ensuring consistency of Employee Relations practices across agency and utilizing “best practices.”
• Coordinates all aspects of unemployment, this includes preparation of short form, long form, appeals and hearings.
• Works with management employees on ensuring familiarity and compliance with agency Human Resources policies and procedures.
• Conducts training programs for management employees aimed at improving their management and communication skills.
• Works with Directors in stressing importance of regularly reviewing Time & Attendance Sheets in order to identify employees who are abusing sick time, have patterned absences and issues with lateness, working under scheduled hours and addressing these problems through coaching and corrective discipline as needed.
• Works with management staff on their effectiveness in writing Warning Notices.
• Conducts investigations pertaining to employees placed on Administrative Leave based on allegations of violating agency rules, regulations or appropriate laws.
• Keeps management aware of new labor laws or regulations and ensures they are being followed.
• Keeps abreast of changes in field.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Strong interpersonal skills are required in order to interact effectively with employees, co-workers, other departments, outside contacts, etc.
• Proficiency in the use of a personal computer. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and E-Mail.
• Due to sensitive nature of the position, must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
• Ability to analyze problems and recommend corrective measures.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong oral and written communications skills, must be able to type notes real time.
• Willing to travel on a regular basis to various agency program sites.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Resources or related field.
• At least five years of prior Employee Relations experience.
Salary range $62,000 - $65,000
