Library Experience Librarian

Wage: $26.92 to $33.65 hourly
Job Type: Full Time (35-40 hours per week)
Closing Date: 2/1/26 or until filled
Purpose: Reporting to the Library Experience Supervisor, the Library Experience Librarian plans and delivers library services that reflect professional best practices and prioritize exceptional customer experiences. This role collaborates across departments to support Douglas County Libraries (DCL)’s service goals as part of the Library Experience team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Library Services (70%)
- Delivers exceptional, personalized customer experiences by building relationships, anticipating needs, and fostering an environment of discovery, inclusion, and innovation.
- Leads and supports adult services and the floor service model, driving engagement through merchandising, readers’ advisory, and interactive customer-driven approaches.
- Serves as Person-In-Charge to ensure smooth daily operations and branch safety, providing leadership and guidance to staff and customers.
- Applies expert knowledge of library ethics, resources, and technologies to support diverse populations, offering assistance with research, accounts, and technical troubleshooting.
- Stays current with industry standards and community trends, conducting data-informed research and adapting to evolving technologies and customer expectations.
Organizational Impact (25%)
- Recommends thoughtful feedback and suggestions to help DCL stay relevant and vital.
- Uses effective communication skills and works interdepartmentally to achieve outcomes by promoting, implementing and supporting library services.
- Collaborates effectively, understands organizational objectives, and recognizes the essential nature of every role at DCL.
- Develops and maintains collaborative, productive relationships with co-workers and branch staff, thereby contributing to a cohesive organization that supports alignment and a positive culture to achieve strategic plans.
Other Duties (5%)
- Develops proficiency in relevant industry and organizational technology.
- Engages in DCL’s performance feedback process and meets departmental expectations, policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in library science or related field.
- Three years of professional experience, preferably in a public library.
- Basic skills in Microsoft 365 or other productivity, collaboration, and cloud-based services software. Ability to learn and apply new technologies.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in library science strongly preferred
A combination of experience and education will be considered.
Physical Requirements: Must have a reliable method of transportation between all DCL locations. Must have the physical ability, stamina, mobility and manual dexterity to support a 7-day a week operation. Work at computer work-stations repetitively and for extended periods. Participate in meetings and events at various locations and at varied times throughout the day. Ability to read as small as 8pt font.
