Join America’s Sunniest Celebration and Be a Part of our team as a Seasonal Facilities Technician! Support the daily maintenance and operational tasks throughout the FSFA fairgrounds and facilities by ensuring the highest of standards are met.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Grow revenue by providing the highest level of quality of maintenance of the fairground facilities by performing a wide variety of general building repairs and services to ensure and protect the infrastructure and lead to less operational costs.
- Drive operational excellence by working with the supervisor to outline and complete daily projects and tasks in an efficient manner, by coordinating work projects with other maintenance trades, and by serving as a Safety Committee Member.
- Ensure proper installation of doors, cabinets, paneling, flooring, and bulletin boards and oversees any demolition needs, roof repairs and the counting of sprinkler heads.
- Provides assistance on moving heavy objects when needed, works with/on and operates high reach equipment, and uses a wide variety of tools and equipment for special projects including airless sprayers, striping machines, sanders, etc.
- Facilitate the maintenance of the shop and equipment ensuring a clean, orderly environment, reports any maintenance concerns for building and equipment
- Increase quality of property by selecting appropriate tools and equipment to prepare surfaces for plaster or cement work and by taping joints on sheetrock, caulking and waterproofing walls and cracks in floors, etc.
- Support on-call emergency service needs as needed.
- Support a variety of other additional maintenance needs and tasks as needed.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of three to five years of experience with general facilities and maintenance work. The following are a plus: HVAC Certification, Plumbing and Electrician Licenses.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to identify problems and implement solutions with the understanding of working efficiently to complete tasks
- Good communication skills both verbally and written
- Intermediate Math skills (calculate figures/discounts, proportions, area, etc.)
- Ability to work independently in the absence of a supervisor
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Duties are mostly performed outside of an office environment. Must have ability to stand, sit, hear, taste/smell, use hands, walk, talk, have depth perception and reach with hands and arms. Also need to have the ability to stoop, kneel, crawl and crouch, and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. There is occasional exposure to environmental demands including wet/humid weather, working in high, precarious places, being exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock. There is also work near mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Be prepared to work extended hours, weekends with limited days off during the month of February.
