Description
-Coordinate housekeeping staff to ensure efficient daily operations per Housekeeping Manager's direction.
- Assign tasks, inspect work, and provide training to maintain quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with California Industrial Welfare Commission (IWC) Order No. 5-2001, which regulates wages, hours, and working conditions in the public housekeeping industry.
- Maintain accurate records of employee schedules, timekeeping, and breaks in accordance with California law.
Operations & Standards
- Inspect guest rooms, hallways, and public areas for cleanliness and maintenance issues.
- Oversee laundry operations and inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and California workplace safety standards.
- Coordinate with front desk and maintenance teams to address guest requests and facility needs promptly.
Compliance & Safety
- Enforce hotel policies and California labor law requirements, including:
- Meal and rest breaks as mandated by California law.
- Overtime pay for hours worked beyond 8 per day or 40 per week.
- Recordkeeping of hours, wages, and working conditions.
- Train staff on safe chemical handling, ergonomics, and injury prevention.
- Report workplace injuries and hazards in compliance with Cal/OSHA.
Guest Service
- Respond to guest concerns regarding housekeeping promptly and professionally.
- Ensure rooms and public areas meet brand standards for cleanliness and presentation.
- Support a positive guest experience by maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality management training preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of housekeeping experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of California labor laws and workplace safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs.
- Perform repetitive motions such as bending, reaching, and carrying.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts, occasionally works in outside weather conditions, and is occasionally exposed to vibration. The associate is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The associate occasionally works in high precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The associate will most often work alone.
