About this role

We’re seeking an exceptional Principal Engineer to shape the technical direction and long-term architecture of Aidoc’s Imaging Platform.

In this role, you’ll lead complex, cross-organization initiatives and drive architectural strategy across multiple systems and teams, while staying close to the code and ensuring decisions are grounded in real-world implementation.

You’ll work directly with engineering and product leadership to define how our platform evolves - ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance as we grow.

You’ll partner with senior engineers across domains to establish technical standards, solve high-impact problems, and align the organization around key architectural principles.

This role combines strategic architectural ownership with active technical contribution - you will stay close to the systems and code, ensuring architecture and reality evolve together.


Responsibilities

  • Lead company-wide or cross-team technical initiatives, ensuring architectural alignment across multiple product areas.
  • Define and drive long-term technical strategy for the Imaging Platform in collaboration with engineering leadership.
  • Provide architectural guidance, conduct design reviews, and mentor senior and staff engineers.
  • Lead and formalize engineering best practices around performance, reliability, and observability.
  • Contribute hands-on to architectural spikes and first-of-a-kind implementations where deep expertise is required.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve scalability, developer productivity, and overall system robustness.
  • Represent the group in company-wide architecture discussions and technical forums

Requirements

  • 15+ years of professional experience building large-scale, distributed software systems.
  • Proven track record in technical leadership roles, delivering complex cross-functional projects.
  • Deep understanding of architecture, scalability, data consistency, and fault tolerance.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent), distributed computing, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong coding skills in one or more modern backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Node.js, Java, C#).
  • Experience designing and scaling event-driven architectures and data-intensive systems.
  • Strong technical leadership skills - able to align technical directors and executives towards a shared technical vision.
  • Applies first-principles thinking to guide teams through design trade-offs and technical decisions with lasting impact
  • Advantage: Experience working in healthcare or familiarity with medical data standards (DICOM, HL7, FHIR), Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
