Paper Retriever of Texas operates out of San Antonio & Austin, servicing South Texas and the I-35 Cooridor. We operate MRF’s (Material Recovery Facilities) with Frontload and Roll-off trucks servicing waste & recycling containers at commercial and industrial businesses, construction contractors, churches, schools, and residences.
We also operate Flatbed, Box Truck and Trailer service for large scale commercial customers. We can provide a variety of equipment options in the form of renting, leasing or outright selling. From a compactor up to a large scale baling or shredding system, we can come up with a solution for your needs while staying within budget and making economical sense. We can help any organization or company with service and equipment needs across south Texas.
About the Role
Description
The Plant & Shop Helper supports daily operations primarily in the plant environment, assisting with production, material handling, and general labor tasks. This position also includes basic welding as needed. Candidates must be dependable, safety-focused, and willing to work both indoors and outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
Requirements
- Assist with plant and shop production tasks, including loading/unloading materials and supporting machine operators
- Perform general shop duties such as cutting, prepping, fitting, and assembling materials
- Complete basic welding tasks (tack welds, small repairs, simple fabrication) as assigned
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in the plant and shop
- Move, lift, and stage materials using hand tools or equipment (forklift or pallet jack if certified)
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning equipment and organizing materials
- Support inventory tracking, restocking, and material preparation for production runs
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times
- Work outdoors year-round as required to support plant operations
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a plant, shop, or industrial environment preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of welding experience (MIG, stick, or other applicable processes).
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to read basic measurements and use hand/power tools.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and willingness to learn new tasks.
- Commitment to following all safety rules and procedures.
- Forklift Experience preferred
