About Canal Alliance 


Canal Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking the generational cycle of poverty for Latino immigrants and their families by removing barriers to success and providing culturally responsive services. 


Position Summary 


The Intake Specialist serves as the first point of contact for clients and plays a key role in ensuring a welcoming, efficient, and supportive experience. This position manages client intake, schedules appointments, provides referrals, supports front desk operations, and maintains accurate records while delivering excellent customer service in English and Spanish. 


Schedule: Full-time, 4 days per week, in office, 32 hours a week


Key Responsibilities 


  • Provide empathetic, professional customer service in English and Spanish (in person, phone, text, and email) 
  • Fill out entrance and universal intake forms, conduct client surveys, and evaluate clients’ needs. 
  • Schedule appointments and connect clients to internal programs and community resources 
  • Maintain accurate client records and document all interactions in Salesforce 
  • Support food distribution efforts, including unloading, setup, distribution, and documentation 
  • Maintain an organized and welcoming front desk and office space 
  • Open and close the office daily and support program and administrative needs assigned

Requirements


Qualifications 

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required 
  • Experience working with Latino and/or immigrant communities 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; AA/BA preferred 
  • Customer service, intake, or administrative experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience a plus 
  • Compassionate, collaborative, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment 

 Work hours alternate each month between 8am–4pm and 10am–6pm, rotating with other intake specialist. 


Compensation 


This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. We offer a competitive hourly pay of $34/hr with a benefits package that includes: 

  • 3 weeks paid vacation per year
