The University of Otago, New Zealand’s oldest university, is seeking an experienced Product Lead to join the Information Systems Group in Dunedin. This is an excellent opportunity to provide leadership across key digital products supporting campus systems, working in a complex and evolving IT environment. You will collaborate with skilled colleagues within a supportive, values driven culture and contribute to the ongoing development of the University’s digital capability.

The role | Te mahi

As Product Lead, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of a portfolio of facilities-related systems and providing broader support for information systems used by the University’s Property Services team. You will also lead and mentor a small team of System Specialists.

This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with business owners, key stakeholders, and other Information Systems teams to develop and deliver a clear product roadmap. This includes planning and overseeing system upgrades, enhancements, and new development initiatives.

The Information Systems Group is on a journey toward a more customer-centric, product-focused way of working. Your ability to champion, evolve, and continuously improve systems within this domain will be critical to the success of this transformation.

Skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

A strong customer focus is essential for success in this role. You will have demonstrated experience translating business and user needs into a prioritised technical backlog aligned with agreed product plans and domain roadmaps. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are vital.

You will ideally have:
•    Experience working in agile or iterative delivery environments.
•    Confidence acting as a key point of contact across multiple technical and business teams.
•    Previous experience managing software products and services that handle sensitive and/or confidential data.
•    An understanding of continuous improvement practices in large, complex organisations.

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.
