About The Company
Dosher Memorial Hospital, a Critical Access community hospital with 25 licensed acute (inpatient) beds and 64 licensed skilled nursing center beds. Approximately one mile from the Cape Fear, the hospital is located in the coastal historic town of Southport, N.C. in Brunswick County. The hospital is overseen by a publicly-elected Board of Trustees and generously supported by a volunteer force of nearly 200, making Dosher Hospital unique in the state of North Carolina. About the Role

Description

Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Responsible for assisting with the direct daily operations of the clinic and in the delivery of coordinated care with the clinic and Dosher Memorial Hospital. The position involves customer service, attending meetings, message
distribution, ordering supplies, and dealing with patient complaints. The position recipient must manage time efficiently and set priorities in order to meet deadlines. He/She is accountable for making sure all log books are kept up-to-date, all compliance is up-to-date, and supplies are ordered as needed. Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and
administering medications as directed by provider 


Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):
- Assist with monitoring and evaluating staff performance
- Ensure patient records are current and accurate
- Keep track of equipment/devices and manage inventory
- Assist with training of staff
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for provider
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and vital signs
- Obtain insurance pre-authorizations for medications as specified by the providers 

Requirements

 Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program (preferred) or documentation of training/work experience equivalent to training of a Medical Assistant accredited program
- Must be certified within 6 months of hire
- Current BLS certification
- Physician office experience required three (3) to five (5) years

Experience:
- Experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding procedures
