General Summary and Purpose:
The Quality Technician is responsible for verifying that finished products meet all quality, performance, and regulatory requirements prior to shipment. This role performs final product testing, documents and communicates nonconformances, supports failure investigations, maintains accurate ERP transactions, and ensures all test equipment remains in proper working condition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Final Product Testing
- Perform functional, performance, and safety testing of finished products in accordance with documented procedures and specifications.
- Verify compliance of product to engineering drawings, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Accurately document test results and maintain traceable quality records.
- Identify and segregate nonconforming products.
Communication of Quality Issues
- Clearly communicate test failures and finished product quality concerns to Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.
- Generate nonconformance reports (NCRs) as required.
- Participate in cross-functional discussions to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Provide objective, data-driven feedback to support corrective actions.
Failure Investigation & Analysis
- Assist in troubleshooting failed units to determine root cause.
- Support root cause analysis activities using structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone).
- Collect data and document findings to support CAPA processes.
- Recommend containment actions when necessary.
ERP System Transactions
- Transact product status changes accurately within the ERP system (e.g., pass, fail, hold, scrap, rework).
- Maintain real-time data accuracy to ensure inventory integrity and traceability.
- Support quality data reporting through proper system documentation.
Test Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain test equipment in safe, clean, and operational condition.
- Perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
- Coordinate calibration activities to ensure compliance with calibration schedules.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
