Eating Disorder Residential Milieu Counselor

Description
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated counselors to join LGTC's eating disorder residential facility in San Jose. This role is essential in providing support and guidance to our adolescent (12-17 year old) clients on their journey to recovery. We have full-time, part-time, and on-call positions available. Full-time and part-time employees must have the ability to work one weekend day is required and we are looking for applicants who can commit to a set schedule for at least six months.
***As of 2/25/26 we are looking for full-time employees who can work a set schedule of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday PM (3:00-11:30PM) shifts***
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all clients
- Lead therapeutic groups for clients
- Sit meals and snacks with clients to provide support and model appropriate eating behaviors
- Prep meals and snacks, follow proper food hygiene protocols
- Cleaning as needed
- Crisis de-escalation and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Ability to work independently
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (psychology, sociology, social work, or other relevant fields preferred)
- Experience working with adolescents
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Typing and documentation proficiency
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Ability to work a weekend day on a weekly basis
Desired Qualifications:
- Background in residential treatment centers
- Spanish proficiency
- Experience in counseling or working with individuals with different mental health disorders
- Knowledge of eating disorders
- CPR/BLS certification
Skills:

- Crisis intervention and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of eating disorders and treatment modalities
- Organizational and time management skills
- Cultural competence and sensitivity
