Compliance and Quality Management Specialist

Supports the Director of Quality and Compliance in the implementation, monitoring, and ongoing administration of Axiom Care’s quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and risk management activities.
This position assists with data collection and reporting, facility survey preparation, policy review, incident tracking, and regulatory correspondence to ensure continued compliance with applicable governing authorities and accrediting bodies.
Position is based in Phoenix, AZ and operates in a hybrid work model, combining remote work with on-site presence at Axiom Care facilities as needed. Travel of approximately 30 percent of time is required to facilities throughout Maricopa and Pinal County.

Duties/Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Quality and Compliance, the position will support the implementation and ongoing administration of Axiom Care’s compliance, quality, and risk management activities, demonstrating strong judgment, quality orientation, and adaptability in a regulatory healthcare environment.
Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness
Demonstrates attention to detail and sound decision-making in applying regulatory standards.
- Perform, document, and report on facility compliance and safety audits.
- Assist in reviewing and updating policies and procedures to maintain alignment with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Assist with preparation for regulatory and accreditation surveys, including document organization, tracer support, and corrective action tracking.
- Prepare and submit required reports, correspondence, and plans of correction as directed.
- Monitor updates from regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies and summarize key changes for leadership.
- Ensure licenses, permits, and accreditation are up to date.
Quality Improvement & Data Monitoring
Applies analytical thinking and quality orientation to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support implementation of the Performance Measurement and Management Plan (PMMP).
- Collect, track, and trend quality and performance data.
- Analyze data and assist in preparing clear, data-driven reports for leadership review.
- Coordinate documentation and materials for PMMP Committee meetings.
Incident Reporting & Risk Management
Exercises objective judgment and problem-solving skills when reviewing and summarizing risk-related information.
- Track, monitor, and summarize incident reports for leadership review.
- Assist in conducting compliance reviews or investigations and preparing summary reports as directed.
- Support follow-up monitoring of corrective actions and risk mitigation activities.
Medical Records Oversight
Maintains high standards of accuracy, completeness, and regulatory alignment.
- Monitor compliance with documentation standards, timeliness requirements, and record retention practices.
- Conduct medical record audits for completeness and regulatory compliance.
- Track and coordinate responses to records requests and regulatory inquiries.
Life Safety & Fire Safety Coordination
Supports regulatory compliance through organized monitoring and proactive follow-up.
- Track required fire and life safety inspections, drills, testing, and corrective actions.
- Maintain organized documentation to support survey readiness.
- Coordinate with vendors and facility leadership to ensure compliance requirements are met.
Adaptability & Continuous Improvement
Acts as a change-support partner within the organization.
- Assist with implementation of compliance and quality initiatives established by the Director.
- Provide guidance and support to staff and managers as directed.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Complete additional projects and assignments as directed by the Director of Quality and Compliance or executive leadership.

Requirements
Require Skills/Abilities
· Working knowledge of Arizona Department of Health Services, The Joint Commission, AHCCCS, and applicable federal requirements preferred.
· Ability to manage assigned tasks independently while operating within established departmental direction.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to interpret regulatory language and apply requirements to operational processes with guidance.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Ability to analyze data and create clear reports or visual summaries using Excel or similar tools.
· Strong written communication skills, including the ability to draft professional reports and correspondence.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive or proprietary information.
· Ability to travel to Axiom Care facilities within the Phoenix metropolitan area.
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
· Must possess valid driver's license and clean MVR.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, public health, business, or a related field required.
· Minimum 12 months of behavioral health experience preferred.
· Minimum 6 months of experience in quality improvement, compliance, risk management, or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Work requires sitting, standing, and/or walking for periods of five hours or more, moving and examining objects at high and low reach, and reading for periods of three hours or more.
