About the Role

Description

Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Norfolk, Virginia, featuring 300 Independent Living units, a 33-bed Skilled Nursing unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living unit, and a 34-bed Memory Support unit.

We are seeking highly qualified, part- and full- time Registered Nurses (RN) to join our team to deliver excellent care for our residents. The ideal candidates will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population.

Current shifts available:

  • 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Part-Time and Full-Time)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care, promoting resident dignity, independence, and safety.
  • Conduct assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and accurately document resident status.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions safely per physician orders.
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition, reporting promptly to physicians and nursing leadership.
  • Assist physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers with procedures and evaluations.
  • Supervise and support LPNs and nursing assistants in delivering resident care.
  • Coordinate nursing services with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Facilitate resident admissions, transfers, and discharges according to facility policies.
  • Support a safe, restraint-free environment, implement fall prevention measures, and follow infection control protocols.
  • Assist residents with ADLs including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and oral care.
  • Manage medical equipment, supplies, and emergency resources to ensure readiness.
  • Educate residents and families on health management and care practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Nursing degree and current RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
  • Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible nursing experience in Assisted Living, Memory Support, or Long-Term Care.
  • Valid Adult CPR and BLS/AED certification required; ISP/UAI certification preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, time management, critical thinking, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and professionally with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Demonstrated compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to work with elderly and/or disabled populations.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, infection control, clinical and diagnostic procedures, and applicable laws/regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound nursing judgment, and provide hands-on or urgent care as needed.
  • Physical ability to assist residents with mobility, including lifting, transferring, and supporting up to 50 lbs., as well as sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and adhere to facility schedules, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
