Position Summary
The Maintenance Helper supports the Maintenance Department by assisting with routine
repairs, preventative maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and facility upkeep. This
role performs general labor and technical support tasks to ensure production equipment and
facility systems operate safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Assist maintenance technicians with equipment repairs and troubleshooting
- Support preventative maintenance (PM) schedules and routine inspections
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain machinery and equipment
- Transport tools, parts, and materials to job sites within the facility
- Assist with installation and removal of machinery components
- Perform basic mechanical tasks under supervision
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shop and work areas
- Assist with facility repairs including lighting, minor plumbing, and basic electrical tasks (as permitted by training)
- Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols
- Wear required PPE at all times
- Report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns to supervisor
- Complete assigned work orders and document tasks performed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 0–2 years of industrial, mechanical, or facilities experience preferred
- Manufacturing or industrial environment experience a plus
- Basic understanding of hand and power tools
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Willingness to learn maintenance trade skills
- Strong attendance and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment
- Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects
- Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings and fitness for duty test (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.)
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
Work Environment
Manufacturing floor with exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp materials, and moderate
to loud noise. May be exposed to hot or cold environments depending on season. Work schedule
may include overtime, weekend shifts, or on-call schedules as needed.
