About the Role

Description

The Phlebotomist provides safe, accurate, and compassionate specimen collection services and works as part of a care team with Patient Service Representatives, Medical Assistants, Nurses, Providers to ensure a smooth continuum of care. This includes facilitating the efficient flow of patients through the laboratory process, performing venipuncture and properly labeling and processing specimens, ensuring timely transport of specimens, and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).


The Phlebotomist maintains infection control standards and regulatory compliance, including CLIA-waived testing. Responsibilities also include assisting with patient follow-up as directed, maintaining laboratory logs, monitoring supply inventory, and keeping laboratory areas clean, stocked, and orderly to support safe and efficient operations.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program and a minimum of one (1) year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting is preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge of venipuncture techniques, specimen handling, infection control practices, laboratory safety standards, and familiarity with CLIA-waived testing procedures and documentation standards is preferred.


Possesses excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills and demonstrates the ability to work effectively with patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Skilled in computers and electronic health record systems. Demonstrates strong attention to detail, accuracy in labeling and documentation, and effective problem-solving skills
