About the Role

Description

Position Overview 

The Vice President of Information Technology is a strategic and operational technology leader responsible for building, scaling, and optimizing the technology ecosystem supporting a multi-site car wash organization. This role oversees infrastructure, database architecture, site technology, systems integration, cybersecurity, and enterprise IT operations while driving efficiency and automation across both corporate and field operations. 

The VP of IT partners closely with Executive Leadership, Operations, Finance, and Analytics teams to align technology strategy with rapid growth, acquisitions, operational performance, and data-driven decision making. This leader ensures all wash locations operate on reliable, secure, and scalable technology platforms that support memberships, customer experience, and real-time operational visibility. 

Key Responsibilities 

Technology Strategy & Executive Leadership 

  • Develop and execute a long-term IT strategy aligned with company growth, new site development, and acquisition integration. 
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on technology investments, innovation opportunities, and operational risk. 
  • Lead and develop IT teams across infrastructure, data, applications, and field technology support. 
  • Establish IT governance, standards, and performance KPIs across all locations. 
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives that improve operational efficiency and customer experience. 

Infrastructure & Site Technology Management 

  • Oversee enterprise and field infrastructure including: 
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) 
  • Network connectivity across wash locations 
  • POS systems, payment integrations, and membership platforms 
  • Tunnel controllers, IoT-connected equipment, and site technology 
  • Endpoint and device management across corporate and field teams 
  • Ensure uptime and reliability of all site technologies impacting wash operations and revenue. 
  • Lead infrastructure standardization across newly acquired locations. 
  • Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for corporate and site systems. 

Database & Data Architecture Leadership 

  • Own enterprise database strategy supporting memberships, transactions, operations, and analytics. 
  • Oversee design and performance of relational and operational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.). 
  • Establish data governance, integrity, and access standards across departments. 
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and BI teams to support reporting platforms, dashboards, and data warehouse initiatives. 
  • Enable real-time operational analytics and performance reporting across all wash locations. 

Process Optimization & Automation 

  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement technology-driven solutions. 
  • Streamline workflows across operations, HR, finance, and customer platforms through automation and integrations. 
  • Lead implementation and optimization of enterprise systems including ERP, HRIS, CRM, and operational platforms. 
  • Reduce manual reporting and administrative processes through system standardization and automation. 

Cybersecurity & Risk Management 

  • Develop and maintain enterprise cybersecurity strategy protecting customer, payment, and operational data. 
  • Establish security policies for distributed site environments and cloud infrastructure. 
  • Manage risk mitigation, incident response, and compliance standards. 
  • Ensure adherence to payment security and data protection best practices. 

IT Operations & Service Delivery 

  • Oversee IT service management and helpdesk support for corporate and field operations. 
  • Ensure rapid response and resolution for site-impacting technology issues. 
  • Manage vendor relationships including POS providers, infrastructure partners, and technology vendors. 
  • Define SLAs to maintain consistent service delivery across all wash locations. 
  • Own IT budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications Required Experience 

  • 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including executive or senior leadership roles. 
  • Proven experience supporting multi-location operational or retail environments. 
  • Strong background managing enterprise infrastructure and database environments. 
  • Demonstrated success streamlining operational processes through technology solutions. 
  • Experience integrating systems during growth or acquisition environments. 

Technical Expertise 

  • Database platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or similar) 
  • Cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP) 
  • Network and distributed-site infrastructure management 
  • Data warehousing and business intelligence ecosystems 
  • Cybersecurity frameworks and governance 
  • Enterprise system implementations and integrations 
  • POS/payment systems and operational technology environments preferred 

Leadership Competencies 

  • Strategic thinker with strong operational execution capability. 
  • Ability to translate technical initiatives into measurable business outcomes. 
  • Strong collaboration with Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership teams. 
  • Change management and transformation leadership experience. 
  • Data-driven decision-making mindset. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in car wash, retail, franchise, or multi-unit service industries. 
  • Experience supporting membership-based or subscription business models. 
  • Background working with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar). 
  • Experience supporting rapid growth or private-equity-backed organizations. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
