R3 is seeking an experienced Release and Deployment Management Lead to oversee software release and deployment activities within a dedicated enterprise environment. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing complex releases across workstation and server environments, ensuring stability, reliability, and alignment with operational and business objectives.
The Release and Deployment Management Lead will serve as the technical and operational lead for release orchestration, process improvement, and deployment execution. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and hands-on experience managing large-scale software environments and updates.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, orchestration, and execution of software releases and updates for a dedicated environment
- Manage releases across large-scale environments, including a minimum of 4,000 workstations and 1,000 servers
- Apply AGILE and ITIL principles to improve and standardize release and deployment processes
- Support continuous process improvement by identifying, proposing, and implementing enhancements to release workflows
- Develop and maintain deployment automation using scripting and programming constructs such as PowerShell or Visual Basic
- Oversee the preparation, distribution, and maintenance of deployment communications templates
- Manage and update web or SharePoint portals with relevant release and deployment information
- Maintain operational awareness of release dependencies, risks, and change control requirements
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure successful and timely releases
- Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers and administrators supporting release and deployment activities
- Ensure all release activities are thoroughly documented and aligned with governance and compliance standards
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10–15 years of progressive technical experience in enterprise IT environments
- Demonstrated experience leading or managing technical teams
- Hands-on experience supporting large-scale software environments and executing complex releases
- Strong expertise in release and deployment management practices, AGILE methodologies, and ITIL frameworks
- Proficiency in MS SCCM for deployment orchestration
- Familiarity with scripting or programming for automation and deployment customization
- U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Active or previous DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance
- DOE L or Q clearance
- Experience operating within highly regulated or compliance-driven environments
- Experience working within a managed services delivery model
Certifications Desired
- ITIL Foundation or higher
- Agile or Scrum certifications
- Microsoft Endpoint Manager/SCCM certifications
- Relevant cloud, security, or systems engineering certifications
