Summary
The Senior Director, Supply Chain Management is responsible for developing and implementing objectives, strategies, tactics and best practices for procurement, planning, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), operations scheduling and warehouse management. This role manages GMP and development materials & supply/contract services vendors, including sourcing, price negotiation, planning, scheduling, receiving, and risk management. The position leads the S&OP process and supervises procurement, planning/logistics material management, and warehouse teams in clinical and commercial production environments, ensuring cGMP discipline and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and oversee safe and efficient warehouse material and supply chain management.
- Evaluate, recommend, configure, train, and implement systems for clear traceability of materials under cGMP.
- Practice good documentation with timely communication of deviations, incidents, and safety concerns.
- Oversee daily workflow for purchasing and warehouse management, including documentation review.
- Draft, review, and approve SOPs, ensuring operational compliance to cGMPs and training new staff.
- Manage supplier/vendor relationships to ensure effective supply chain management within budget and service expectations.
- Direct procurement and raw material release cycles to align with production schedules.
- Demonstrate solid understanding and use of chemical stored on site.
- Manage and interact with contract manufacturing organizations and internal teams to meet delivery, cost, and quality requirements.
- Develop, enhance and manage the site S&OP process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Facilities/Engineering.
- Provide effective leadership to staff, including goal setting, performance reviews, coaching, conflict mitigation, team activities, recruitment, training, and disciplinary actions.
Requirements
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related discipline; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 20 years supply chain management or supervisory experience at biologics manufacturing organization. Biologics CDMO experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of chemical ingredients.
- Experience in procurement, price negotiation, and supplier risk management.
- Knowledge of warehouse management for GMP and PD materials.
- Ability to communicate in a highly collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability.
- Professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to critically evaluate and prioritize job tasks and their impact on biologics and business functions.
