Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Volunteer Manager, this position will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the volunteer department at Union Rescue Mission. This position will interact directly with groups and people interested in volunteering at Union Rescue Mission (URM), Angeles House and Hope Gardens including hosting orientations and tours.

VOLUNTEER REPRESENTATIVE (URM DTLA/AH/HG) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Print volunteer schedule/sign-in sheets daily, input volunteer hours and new volunteer agreements into software.
- Assist with outreach / coordinating volunteers at URM sites.
- Thoroughly, screen each volunteer through Megan’s Law / National Sex Offender Sites.
- Provide excellent care and hospitality to our volunteers by being attentive to their needs.
- Host volunteers at URM sites.
- Provide Tours to volunteers at URM sites.
- Assist with virtual and in-person orientations, when needed.
- Assist in planning and executing URM events.
- Work directly with rental vendors to place orders for various events.
- Submit Check Request Forms and Vendor invoices to Accounting, Volunteer Services Manager, and Senior leadership, in a timely manner.
- Submit Microix orders as needed.
- Submit UPKeep requests, as needed.
- Oversee the set up and tear down of events, as needed.
- Oversee, work, and execute projects and events with individual and group volunteers, including vendors and organizations who may sponsor an event.
- Prepare the environment and supplies for volunteer group activities in advance.
- Travel to all URM facilities including the Warehouse/Distribution Center, Thrift Stores, as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate in a kind & effective manner with various departments mission wide.
- Work with the Volunteer Department Manager and team to assist with various departmental needs.
- Answer all incoming calls / voicemails that come into the volunteer department, in a timely manner.
- Conduct other tasks and projects as assigned by the Volunteer Manager.
- Assist the Volunteer Manager with some administrative needs, such as creating private registration links, excel sheets, and reports.
- Create and post volunteer opportunities on the Volunteer Portal, as needed.
- Responsible for keeping the office and storage room organized and clean.
- Commitment to URM mission, vision, and core values.
- Encourages guests and volunteers in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ.

- Manual dexterity required for occasional lifting of supplies and boxes
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Requirements
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:
- Minimum 1-year experience in customer service, event planning, and volunteer work
- Proficient in Microsoft programs; be internet savvy
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes Saturdays, evenings, and weekends, as needed
- Excellent people/customer service skills
- Excellent public speaking skills (facility tours)
- Ability to multitask, diffuse angry/frustrated people and groups, including Skid Row population
- Must be willing to wear multiple hats and take initiative
- Familiarity with event set up and managing people/volunteers
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to work well with others, team player
