POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for the administration of trust and investment agency accounts. Identify and develop new business opportunities. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 

  1. Communicate with grantors, beneficiaries, co-trustees, and principals on a regular basis to develop and maintain positive relationships and outline administrative procedures.
  2. Review account balance sheets and consult with trust investment officer regularly to monitor account holdings.
  3. Review daily activity in accounts to ensure accuracy and monitor cash balances to provide for liquidity needs.
  4. Attend Trust Committee meetings.
  5. Prospect and develop new business opportunities with both existing and new clients.
  6. Build and maintain professional relationships with bank officers and legal and accounting professionals.
  7. Project and maintain the bank’s professional image.
  8. Maintain a current knowledge of trust and investment laws and regulations.
  9. Assume responsibility for related duties as required and assigned.
  10. Keep management aware of activities, opportunities, and problems.
  11. Respond to client issues, anticipate client needs, and prepare for and participate in client meetings.
  12. Respond to requests from beneficiaries for discretionary distributions. Prepare memoranda supporting recommendation regarding how the Bank shall exercise discretionary powers it has as trustee. Confer with co-trustee (if any) to obtain his/her approval.
  13. Handle ongoing day to day administration of accounts. Proactively manage account base in accordance with trust department policies and procedures to identify risks and minimize or avoid service and operational issues.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role has no supervisory responsibilities. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree (B.B.A.) in Accounting or Finance or Law Degree or equivalent on the job training and experience in a relevant field.

Required KnowledgeKnowledge of Windows XP and other Office programs including Microsoft Excel and Word. Superior written and verbal communication skills. Strong logic, reasoning, and analytical skills.

Experience RequiredMinimum of three to five years trust or related experience.

Skills/AbilitiesAdvanced organizational and interpersonal skills required. Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy always. Complete confidentiality required. Highest degree of ethical standards required.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.

Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)

WORKING CONDITIONS

None: No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions and to deal with ordinary, standardized situations.

Mathematics AbilityAbility to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, and pound (or their metric counterparts).

Language AbilityAbility to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a slow rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. 

Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs. 

Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tenses and good vocabulary.


Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
40 hours per week.
