About the Role
Description
This position is hired through our partner Positive Impacts.
The Family Coach carries a caseload serving families voluntarily seeking preventive or early intervention services in their homes or community to assist with parenting and other family relationships. Family Coaches provide parent support and case management addressing concrete needs, connecting to community resources, and sharing evidence-based practices for developing healthier coping skills and parenting techniques through the Nurturing Parent Curriculum.

- Family Coach role has no on-call duties

What to expect on a given day as a Family Coach:
- You will provide coaching sessions in families’ homes or other community locations using evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions.
- You will address concrete needs and connect families to community resources.
- You will interact/communicate with parents/caregivers in a respectful and supportive manner.
- You will assess the safety and health of children as a first priority.
- You will communicate/collaborate with others (therapists, child welfare workers, medical providers, etc.) for continuity of care.
- You will document interactions, develop case plans, and conduct needs assessments.
- You perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.
You would be a good fit for this position if you:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field required, master's degree in social work or related field preferred.
- Bilingual skills are preferred with proficiency in Spanish and English a plus.
- Have a of minimum two years related experience with children and families.
- Have experience working in community based social services.
- Have experience in serving high needs populations.
- Have knowledge of child development and individual/family functioning.
- Have the ability to engage difficult to reach, traumatized, or disengaged individuals and families.
- Have the ability to work with individuals with co-occurring health, mental health, and substance abuse conditions.
