THIS POSITION WILL BE LOCATED IN CENTRAL VA WITH FLEXIBILITY TO WORK FROM HOME ON A HYBRID SCHEDULE


The Director Loan Operations is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Loan Operations department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving operational efficiency for consumer, residential, and commercial loan products. This role requires strategic oversight of loan processing, disbursement, maintenance, and payments, aiming for accurate and efficient execution of processes within service level expectations. Additionally, this role will develop strategies for process improvement, manage risk, and ensure high-quality customer service.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management

· Oversee day-to-day operations of the Loan Operations department, including loan processing, disbursement, maintenance, payments, and customer service.

· Lead, develop, and manage a team of loan servicing professionals, including supervisors and specialists.

· Establish performance metrics, monitor team productivity, and provide regular performance feedback.


Compliance and Risk Management

· Implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations, and internal compliance requirements. 

· Interact with the three lines of defense and external examiners to support Bank reviews and examinations. Lead remediation of items identified and assigned to Loan Operations.

· Monitor the department’s internal controls as required by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.  


Operational Excellence 

· Oversee the entire loan servicing lifecycle, from post-closing activities to final payoff.

· Ensure accurate and timely recording of payments, escrow management, and application of interest and principal.

· Implement and refine loan processing systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.

· Develop effective relationships and collaborate with other lines of business to implement end to end process improvements that drive efficiency and/or customer experience.

· Provide guidance to the department related to HMDA reportable data and with eligibility as it pertains to FRB and FHLB reportable loans.  

· Develop and monitor reports, metrics, and risk assessments to ensure operations are within established service level agreements and meet regulatory requirements.


Strategic Direction

· Collaborate with senior management and other departments to develop strategic goals and align loan servicing strategies with overall business objectives.


Financial Oversight

· Manage departmental budget, cost controls, and resource allocation.

· Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators.

Requirements

Education and Certifications:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.     


Qualifications:

· Minimum 10 years’ experience in banking or financial services with at least 5 years in a senior management role within loan operations.

· In depth knowledge of consumer, residential, and commercial loan products, loan servicing operations, regulatory requirements, and risk management principles.

· Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with diverse stakeholders.

· Proficiency in loan system software and general banking systems.


Preferred Skills/Abilities:

· Experience with Jack Henry Silverlake, Abrigo Sageworks and Finastra LaserPro.  

· Experience with business intelligence tools

· Demonstrated success in leading change initiatives
