About the Role

Job Description

The Environmental and Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer ensures Avery Dennison’s Environmental Health and Safety standards are understood, implemented, and followed within the site. This role leads site-based safety initiatives, safety assessments, and ensures local compliance with EHS regulations. The purpose of this position is to support product compliance and sustainability initiatives while overseeing data, metrics, and reporting for core EHS areas to foster a robust safety and environmental culture. This is full-time and on-site position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site-based safety initiatives, local or group training, new hire orientation, and safety assessments.
  • Develop and implement EHS policies for data collection, maintenance, and verification to ensure standardization and consistency.
  • Ensure local compliance with EHS regulations and oversee data collection, reporting, and audits.
  • Be an ambassador in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs and procedures to mitigate workplace hazards and prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Implement, coordinate, and maintain the Process Safety Management elements (or comparable standards) with a focus on high-risk processes.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering Sciences).
  • Knowledge of Flemish environmental legislation (VLAREM), relevant guidelines concerning ATEX, Process Safety Management principles, methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA), and experience with their implementation .
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex environmental and safety issues. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills (Dutch and English).
  • Ideally possess the legally required certificate Environmental engineer (Milieucoördinator) Level A and/or B or willing to obtain them.
