About the Role

Description

  Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Accounting Manager responsible for the Land and Resource Management segment of the business.
  • Review and record monthly oil & gas royalty revenue
  • Review and record monthly ad valorem tax accruals
  • Prepare the quarterly depletion analysis
  • Prepare annual impairment analysis for unproved and proved property assets
  • Provide financial reporting oil & gas royalty KPI’s
  • Prepare oil & gas reports for executive management
  • Prepare ad hoc projects for department leadership
  • Maintain complete and accurate well records in MineralSoft
  • Participate in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, general ledger account reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Prepare/review monthly, quarterly, and annual flux analyses
  • Support the Senior Accounting Manager with oil & gas income tax related workbooks
  • Assist with analysis of mineral acquisitions and onboarding newly acquired assets
  • Review ad valorem tax payments and royalty deposits prepared by the Staff Accountant
  • Develop relationships across the organization to facilitate information sharing and proper accounting for transactions
  • Manage providing audit deliverables related to the Land and Resource Management segment
  • Maintain complete and accurate financial records in compliance with GAAP.
  • Familiarize oneself with the company’s legal entities and overall business.


Requirements

Position Requirements

  • GAAP familiarity, in-depth and current
  • Experience in preparing accounting support and documentation to support both internal and external audits.
  • Must have at least one of the following: public accounting experience or accounting experience in a publicly traded company
  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Previous experience in a senior level role managing direct reports

Education, Experience, & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Oil & Gas experience required
  • Experience with MineralSoft strongly preferred
  • Current CPA or equivalent strongly preferred
