About the Role
Description
The Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s credit and collections operations. This role ensures sound credit decisions, minimizes financial risk, and optimizes cash flow through strong management and analytical skills of accounts receivable. The Manager will evaluate customer creditworthiness using financial analytical skills and a strong knowledge of financial statements, establish credit limits, lead a small support team, maintain updated & accurate records, and maintain compliance with all relevant laws and company policies.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily credit and collections activities to meet financial performance goals.
- Evaluate new and existing customer credit applications by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, monitoring financial rations for customer stability and liquidity and trade references.
- Review and advises on credit limits and payment terms on current accounts including credit limit changes.
- Monitor and report on aged receivables ensuring all accounts are reconciled, aged and monitored regularly; pursue collections and resolve delinquent accounts.
- Investigates discrepancies including invoicing, shipping, pricing, tax and payment discrepancies.
- File and release liens to protect receivables and ensure compliance with state laws.
- Partner with sales and operations teams to balance growth with credit risk.
- Maintain sales tax exemption certificates and have a strong understanding of what is taxable and what is exempt.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on credit exposure, bad debt, and collection performance.
- Conducting annual review of existing credit relationships.
- Supervise, train, and develop credit and collections staff.
- Develop and track goals for the department.
- Ensure adherence to relevant laws and company policy, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 4–6 years of B2B corporate credit and collections experience within a customer service, sales-oriented or product distribution environment preferred.
- Experience interpreting financial statements and making data-driven credit decisions.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Must have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel skills.
