About the Role

SUMMARY:

The embodiment of our HouseMart brand. The position of HouseMart Store Manager is responsible for the overall management of the store. A HouseMart Store Manager will be able to meet sales and profitability goals, train and develop store employees, ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, and develop business strategies to increase store traffic.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Thinks and behaves in alignment with the Company’s vision, mission, goals, objectives and core values.
  • Helps ensure sales goals are obtained by welcoming customers and ensuring they have what they are looking for, while promoting better alternatives (up selling), sale items and other relevant products to assist them with their projects.
  • Cultivates customer’s good will and encourages repeat business.
  • Directs and supervises employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, or in performing services for customers. Delegates duties and tasks fairly.
  • Fosters, supports, and maintains high morale by developing an effective teamwork concept among all employees.
  • Monitors the daily and monthly sales achievements as compared to budgeted goals and past history to meet/exceed expectations. Develops and implements an action plan to increase lagging departmental/store sales.
  • Plans and controls the financial matters under his/her charge within budgeted limits. Efficiently allocates and/or reviews labor resources to be cost effective.
  • Insures that all company objectives, policies, procedures and best practices are adhered to within the store’s operation. Recommends the development of new procedures as needed.
  • Ensures proper hiring, training, and supervision for all immediate staff. Disciplines and terminates employees according to company policies and procedures.
  • Regularly evaluates the performance of all employees according to procedures. Continually nurtures employee development.
  • Ensures that all daily and monthly office duties and reporting are accurate and completed promptly (e.g. cash counting, daily bank deposits, AP statements, change fund, etc.).
  • Works within assigned peak levels and adjusts purchases when needed according to the open to buy policy set by merchandising.
  • Regularly reviews the merchandise sales activity and recommends adjustments to merchandising.
  • Implements merchandising plans to ensure inventory and visual displays are at company standards. Sends visuals of displays to merchandising for inspection.
  • Leads the employees in developing merchandise plans for seasonal and promotional activities.
  • Recommends new ideas for store layout and reviews any changes in store layout with the staff.
  • Works with the Security Manager in developing security programs and procedures to safeguard store property and follows up by implementing and enforcing those procedures, including, but not limited to: store opening, closing, cash controls, inventory security, equipment and building security, etc.
  • Safety and security
    • Work in a safe manner to protect yourself, your co-workers and others who may be affected by your actions.
    • Work together on exercising prevention methods to minimize injury or loss. Suggest solutions to mitigate hazards.


OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts monthly meetings and store huddles with employees to review operational, administrative, and personnel matters.
  • Coordinates and assists in the annual preparation and taking of the store’s physical inventory.
  • Performs and assists with the store visit reports and audits.
  • Ensures store’s efficient operation by having equipment or supplies readily available for store use.
  • Promptly and accurately performs any other related duties of store staff as necessary including: Cashier, Receiver, Inventory Coordinator, and Sales Associate.
