Position Summary:

Alliant Bank is seeking an experienced Loan Officer to join our team and play a key role in originating, underwriting, and actively managing a loan portfolio while building long-term customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


Loan Origination & Portfolio Management

  • Review, evaluate, and manage applications for loans, lines of credit, and credit extensions in accordance with established credit guidelines, portfolio strategy, and bank policies.
  • Manage an assigned loan portfolio, including ongoing credit quality monitoring, risk management, relationship retention, and responsible portfolio growth.
  • Authorize or recommend credit approvals within delegated authority, ensuring alignment with the bank’s risk appetite and concentration limits.
  • Negotiate loan terms including pricing, amortization, covenants, and collateral structures, consistent with bank policy and market conditions.
  • Direct and participate in loan closings, ensuring accurate documentation, timely execution, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Achieve established goals for loan production, portfolio performance, asset quality, and profitability.
  • Generate new business and deepen existing relationships through referrals and cross-selling of deposit, treasury, cash management, and other bank services.

Underwriting & Credit Analysis

  • Analyze borrower financial statements, cash flows, credit history, and repayment capacity to support sound credit decisions.
  • Perform detailed underwriting in accordance with bank credit policies, identifying key risks and appropriate credit mitigants.
  • Prepare, present, and defend credit requests to the bank’s credit committee, including comprehensive financial analysis and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate complex credit situations and develop creative, compliant lending solutions that meet customer needs while protecting portfolio quality.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with borrowers and prospects, serving as a trusted financial advisor.
  • Meet established goals for proactive customer and prospect outreach.
  • Consult with customers on lending options, clearly communicating risks, benefits, costs, and alternatives in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate credit decisions professionally, including explaining deficiencies and alternatives when a request cannot be approved.
  • Respond promptly to customer questions and provide consistent follow-up throughout the lending process.

Requirements

Requirements for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field preferred.
  • No existing employment or non-solicit agreements restricting customer or employee engagement.

Other Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing a commercial and/or consumer loan portfolio, including ongoing credit monitoring and relationship oversight.
  • Strong background in loan underwriting, credit analysis, and financial statement review.
  • Knowledge of community bank lending practices, credit policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to build and retain long-term customer relationships.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience presenting loans to a credit committee is preferred.
