Summary:
Leads Medical Assistants and other staff as assigned in day to day clinic operations. Is responsible for orientation and competency training for MA’s.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
- Graduate of Accredited Medical Assisting Program
- Current Certification with AAMA, or other nationally recognized certification.
- CPR certification or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Medical Office experience required.
- Knowledge of FQHC’s preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage clinical flow, the interaction of all MA staff, and all daily functions.
- Coordinate scheduling of all MA staff and their PTO and sick call.
- Ensure all MAs provide quality medical care by providing comprehensive training and overseeing ongoing competency.
- Inspire fellow team members to fulfill Heritage’s mission to provide compassionate quality care to our community.
- Promote a positive work environment in which team members willingly serve each other and refuse to tolerate unacceptable treatment of others.
- Manage and train MAs to continually improve performance and skill level.
- Recognize achievements and give team members Performance Evaluations.
- Delegate and manage non-care related tasks like temperature logs, immunization logs, stocking, inventory, etc.
- Train all MA team members to provide outstanding customer service.
- With the support of the MA Nurse Manager, work to resolve conflict among team members and take necessary disciplinary measures.
- Ensure that all MA staff are in compliance with OSHA, HIPAA and other government regulations.
- Ensure that all MA staff are in compliance with Heritage Health policies.
- As a working lead, is able and willing to perform any and all MA tasks. Responsible for completing MA tasks when need arises.
- Attend management/other meetings as scheduled.
- Participate on committees as necessary.
- Order supplies/MMN medications.
- Perform yearly inventory.
- Assist providers/medical assistants with emergency care of patients in the clinic.
- Heritage Health staff have an active role in our Patient Centered Medical Home model of care. This role is designated as part of the Heritage Health PCMH Care Team.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
