POSITION SUMMARY:

Join our growing team in the dynamic landscape and construction industry! We’re seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk with hands-on experience in timekeeping, job costing, and prevailing wage compliance. In this key role, you’ll ensure accurate and timely payroll processing using ExakTime and Paylocity, while supporting compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific labor regulations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, proactive, and eager to grow their skills in a field-based workforce setting.  Certified Payroll Experience is a plus. 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

· Process weekly payrolls accurately and timely using Paylocity.

· Collect, verify, and reconcile employee hours from ExakTime timekeeping system.

· Ensure proper job cost allocation of labor hours to support accurate project costing and reporting.

· Monitor and maintain compliance with prevailing wage laws and certified payroll requirements.

· Track and audit employee time records, including overtime, sick leave, PTO, and other pay codes.

· Review new hire information, terminations, and employee changes to ensure accurate payroll entries.

· Assist with the preparation of certified payroll reports for public works projects.

· Coordinate with HR and field supervisors to resolve discrepancies in time or payroll data.

· Maintain payroll records and reports in accordance with company policies and government regulations.

· Assist with audits and month-end reporting as needed.

· Certified Payroll Experience.

· Prevailing Wage Experience. 

· Provide exceptional service and support to employees regarding payroll-related questions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· 2+ years of payroll or accounting experience, preferably in landscape, construction, or a related industry.

· Proficient in Paylocity and ExakTime platforms (required)

· Experience with job cost accounting and labor allocation

· Strong understanding of prevailing wage laws and certified payroll reporting

· High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail

· Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

· Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred

· Problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements and working conditions

· Office environment with occasional field visits for training or audit support

· Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

· May require flexible hours during peak payroll periods

· Hearing: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.

· Speaking: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job, such as communicating with multiple personnel.

· Vision: Normal visual acuity.

· Walking: Able to walk for a prolonged period outdoors. 

· Stand: Able to stand, bend stoop, kneel as needed during job walkthrough.

· Lifting to 20lbs.

· Pushing up to 20 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
