Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Sampler to join our operations team at Brisbane Port Terminal. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring an automated mechanical sampling system, ensuring accurate and timely collection, preparation, and dispatch of mineral product samples in line with strict procedures and industry standards.

This is a hands-on, operational role within a dynamic port environment where attention to detail, safety, and reliability are essential.

About the role

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and collect samples from an automated sampling system
  • Ensure sampling is conducted in accordance with relevant procedures and standards
  • Sort, label, and securely store samples while maintaining strict chain of custody
  • Ensure sample integrity is preserved and contamination is avoided at all times
  • Accurately record and report sample data and technical results for clients and shipping documentation
  • Ensure all records are completed within required timeframes and operational schedules
  • Carry out routine cleaning, basic maintenance, and inspections of sampling equipment and vehicles
  • Assist with general site housekeeping, including spill management and store duties 
  • Support dispatch activities including sample packing, courier coordination, and loading for transport
  • Attend operational and port meetings to support shipping schedule requirements

Qualifications

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous experience in an industrial, mining, port, or similar operational environment (desirable)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to safely perform manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 15kg drums with mechanical aids and working in environments involving stair access
  • Basic mechanical aptitude (desirable)
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate written records and reports
  • Strong awareness of health, safety, environment, and quality standards
  • Good communication skills and a customer-service / results-driven mindset
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts aligned to shipping schedules (essential)
