The Role
GoodBuy Gear is seeking a Weekend Operations Area Manager to lead inbound operations at our Columbus warehouse facility. This is a hands-on leadership role with full ownership of a 12.5-hour shift across safety, quality, productivity, and team performance.
This leader will be responsible for running a high-performing weekend operation, solving problems in real time, driving continuous improvement, and building a strong culture on the floor. The right candidate is highly autonomous, operationally rigorous, and energized by leading from the front in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Shift Ownership: Own all aspects of inbound operations during the weekend shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent execution across receiving, quality checks, storage, and inventory flow.
- Operational Leadership: Lead the day-to-day performance of the inbound path, with accountability for productivity, quality, labor performance, and process adherence.
- Team Leadership: Direct, coach, develop, and hire frontline associates and leads to build a high-performing, accountable, and engaged team.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive operational improvements through Lean principles, including Kaizen, 5S, standard work, and root cause problem-solving.
- Process Discipline: Ensure stations, workflows, and operating procedures are standardized, clearly communicated, and consistently followed.
- Quality & Accuracy: Maintain high quality standards and inventory accuracy while identifying and addressing defects, breakdowns, and inefficiencies.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with technology, logistics, and corporate teams to identify issues, improve systems, and support broader operational goals.
Requirements
- Independent Operator: Proven ability to manage operations with a high degree of autonomy, make sound decisions in real time, and lead effectively during off-peak and weekend hours.
- Hands-On Leader: Highly visible and floor-based, with a willingness to stay close to the work, remove obstacles, and drive performance over the course of a long, demanding shift.
- Operational Strength: 3+ years warehouse experience with a strong understanding of operations, labor management, process execution, and continuous improvement.
- People Leader: Experience coaching, developing, and elevating frontline teams, with a track record of improving performance and building a strong culture of accountability.
- Continuous Improvement Mindset: Comfortable identifying waste, solving problems at the root, and implementing process improvements that scale.
- Technical Fluency: Comfortable using warehouse and operations systems and enthusiastic about leveraging technology and AI-forward tools to improve daily execution and productivity.
