Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant assists professional nursing personnel in providing patient care in assigned areas. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing personal care, emotional support, and performing basic clinical tasks under the supervision of registered nursing personnel. Ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients while maintaining a clean and organized patient care environment.
Essential Functions
- Assists patients with daily living activities including bathing, grooming, feeding, and ambulation
- Measures and records vital signs, weight, height, and intake and output measurements
- Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reports abnormalities to nursing staff
- Prepares patient rooms for admission, discharge, and transfers; maintains cleanliness and order
- Transports patients to and from various departments as needed
- Assists nursing staff with routine clinical tasks, including application of heat/cold packs and enema administration
- Performs post-mortem care and assists in transporting bodies to the morgue as required
- Responds promptly to patient call lights and assists in meeting patient needs

- Basic computer proficiency for documentation purposes
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in all interactions
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant course preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
Experience
- Six months of experience in an acute care or long-term care facility preferred
