National Manager Safety and Compliance

Position Overview:
The National Manager Safety and Compliance is responsible for leading the overall safety strategy across all company operations, ensuring consistent compliance, risk reduction, and a strong safety culture. This role drives the development and implementation of standardized safety programs, policies, and training to ensure the organization meets or exceeds all applicable regulatory requirements. The National Manager Safety and Compliance works closely with internal and external resources to identify hazards, reduce incidents, and make sure safety is fully embedded into day-to-day decision making. This role will also be responsible for working with and developing / coaching the safety and compliance team. Reports to the National Director of Safety and Compliance and has direct reports.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead national safety strategies aligned with company goals, regulatory requirements, and operational risk profiles across all locations.
- Ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, state/local requirements) and proactively manage inspection readiness and audit performance.
- Standardize safety programs and procedures across all facilities to drive consistency in training, reporting, and execution.
- Lead incident prevention and reduction efforts, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and tracking of leading/lagging indicators.
- Oversee incident investigations to ensure timely, effective corrective action implementation.
- Develop and manage safety training programs, including onboarding, leadership development, and specialized hazard training.
- Conduct audits and field observations to verify compliance, identify risks, and reinforce accountability at all levels.
- Lead and develop the safety team, including site-level safety champions, with a focus on coaching, talent development and career voyage.
- Drive a strong safety culture, promoting ownership, accountability, and engagement from frontline team members through leadership.
- Manage reporting and analytics, including KPI tracking, trend analysis, and executive-level safety reporting.
- Oversee contractor and third-party safety performance, ensuring alignment with company standards.
- Manage emergency preparedness and crisis response planning across all sites.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including behavioral safety programs, risk reduction projects, and technology adoption.
- Manage safety-related budgets and resources to support programs, training, and compliance initiatives.
- Writes, formats, and edits letters and other documents from draft to client-ready stage
- Able to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the group lead and/or business needs of the operation; must be able to attend charity/networking/customer events after normal business hours
- Expected to maintain a strong field presence, requiring frequent monthly travel (25–50%) to all operating sites to support audits, leadership engagement, training, and continuous improvement efforts. Overnight travel is required depending on facility schedules and priorities.

Desired Characteristics:
- College degree and related job experience (10 years plus)
- Experience in manufacturing / heavy industrial environment
- Management system experience (ISO 45001, RIOS, etc.)
- Detail oriented, ability to lead a team, provide feedback, follow up and execute /complete open initiatives
- Proactive, self-motivated leader who independently identifies what needs to be done, quickly learns new concepts, and drives work forward without close supervision.
- The Company desires a candidate who has shown a stable job history, dependable attendance practices and whose references can state is a trustworthy individual.
- Candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, background and credit check.
- Able to travel as required (monthly)
