Description
Position Summary:
To follow the direction of the Fleet Specialist. Carry out transportation of children to and from preplanned destinations. To supervise groups of school age children and ensure all children’s individual needs are met with dignity and respect as well as their safety by following YMCA policies and procedures. Requirements
Entry Requirements:
- Must complete the YMCA Transportation Policy packet.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have CDL certification with passenger endorsement (if driving more than a 14-passenger vehicle).
- Must have a clean Oregon DMV driving record.
- Will need to be CPR and 1st Aid certified within 30 days of employment.
- Employment contingent on passing a behind the wheel drive test, conducted by our Fleet Specialist.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must be physically capable of observing and listening for children at all times.
- Must be physically capable of lifting 40 pounds.
- Must be able to respond in a timely manner to a child and/or situation to prevent harm.
Essential Functions;
- Must always understand and adhere to Child Abuse Prevention and YMCA Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Must complete specified training on the topics of Health and Safety, Child Abuse and Reporting and Concussions.
- Must report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect as per YMCA guidelines.
- Must be patient and able to make sound judgments in a timely manner, on a daily basis, while interacting with children.
- Required to supervise children while in transit and know where all children are, at all times.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, parents, and children.
- Follow documentation requirements for behaviors and injuries.
- Must attend required staff meetings.
- Must adhere to the dress code.
- Must be reliable, prompt, and practice excellent attendance.
- Adhere to check in and check out policies.
- Must maintain safety of YMCA vehicles at all times.
- Maintain consistent communication with Fleet Specialist
