  • Define and drive technical direction across squads, ensuring architecture decisions align with business unit goals and broader engineering standards; contribute to roadmap planning, long-term technical strategy, and org-wide engineering practices.

  • Collaborate with adjacent teams and cross-functional stakeholders to solve shared problems, drive alignment, and escalate issues with wider scope; build consensus across technical and product leadership on significant decisions.
  • Communicate strategy, rationale, and progress clearly to the team and external stakeholders; regularly share technical insights, delivery outcomes, and risks with leadership.
  • Coach engineers both technically and professionally; identify and actively develop future engineering leaders within the team, and advocate for access to growth opportunities they may not get on their own.
  • Build a high-performing, agile, and self-organizing team that delivers stable, scalable, and reliable features and services; lead hiring including interview calibration and headcount recommendations, and model a culture that balances speed with reliability.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Expert-level proficiency in designing and developing high-performance, concurrent applications. Experience using Golang would be a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders, drive clarity on priorities and tradeoffs, and represent engineering concerns credibly to product and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of product and business metrics; experienced in setting ambitious goals using the OKR framework and ensuring teams understand how their work connects to broader business outcomes.
  • Demonstrates a balanced approach to product delivery and engineering excellence, with the ability to make pragmatic tradeoffs between short-term delivery and long-term architectural health.
  • Background in working with distributed systems and highly complex software applications; able to assess systemic risk, evaluate tech stack decisions, and stay informed on reliability, operational posture, and technical debt across their teams.
  • Comfortable taking calculated risks and making strategic decisions under uncertainty; able to build consensus across technical and product stakeholders and drive forward significant decisions with clarity and confidence.
