About the Role

Description

Perform all necessary activities to repair, maintain and improve all applicable controls hardware, software and associated systems of maintenance within our organization. Multi-tasking of both mechanical and electrical skills to maintain equipment and processes. Perform tasks required to rebuild, modify or adjust equipment and processes related to producing the best quality product, as required. Training others, as required.  Complete repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, AC drives, temperature controls, tension controls, conveyor systems, production machines, equipment by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial networks.
  • Maintain backup copies of PLC, HMI, and drive programs.
  • Interpret anticipated problems due to malfunction of equipment control systems and initiate independent action required to remediate.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical failures in order to make necessary repairs using electrical schematics, ladder logic, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Perform regular maintenance on existing controls systems to ensure they remain in proper working order. 
  • Record and maintain a daily record of accomplishments.
  • Perform electrical maintenance, repairs and installation of 110, 220, 480, single and 3 phase.
  • Performs electrical maintenance, repairs and installation of low voltage control and communication wiring.
  • Follow and maintain all OSHA safety standards in all tasks performed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, mechanical circuits, and all mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to improve uptime, safety, and efficiency.

Skills Overview

  • Ability to develop, modify, and trouble shoot utilizing Studio 5000 and RSLocix 500
  • Able to program VFD PowerFlex drives and various HMIs 
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot equipment quickly and efficiently.
  • Develop and support SCADA systems to support equipment OEE calculations and process engineering
  • Must be highly detail-oriented. Every single circuit and wire must work properly in order for the electrical system to function
  • Must be capable of adjusting components to obtain and maintain proper performance based on manufacturer and company guidelines.
  • Must be capable of repairing both mechanically and electrically any defective parts.
  • Capable of utilizing, obtaining, and retaining information gathered from the manufacturers manuals and drawings and using this information in maintaining those components and processes within the manufacturers’ specification.
  • Willing to function as a team member toward the achievement of this company’s goals and objectives.
  • Electrical maintenance - safe, working knowledge, electrician level not required.
  • Must be capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.  
  • Must be able to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and other similar maintenance vehicles.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to do basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Willingness to support off-shift, weekend, or emergency breakdown maintenance if needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years related experience (PLC Programming, Advanced Controls and Electrical Trouble Shooting) in a manufacturing environment, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-year degree or certificate (Engineering Technology) from a college or technical school (preferred)
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
