About the Role

Job Summary

The Slitter Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, personnel, safety, quality, and performance of the Slitter department at Axis Pipe and Tube. This role provides direct supervision to non-supervisory employees and ensures that departmental objectives are achieved in alignment with company policies, production schedules, regulatory requirements, and operational standards. The Slitter Supervisor serves as a key leadership position responsible for workforce management, operational efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement within their area of responsibility.


Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise non-supervisory employees within the assigned department.

  • Plan, assign, schedule, and direct work to meet production, maintenance, warehouse, or departmental objectives.

  • Monitor productivity, quality, efficiency, and operational performance.

  • Interpret and enforce company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.

  • Train, coach, evaluate, and develop employees; conduct performance appraisals and recommend promotions, rewards, or disciplinary actions as appropriate.

  • Address employee concerns and resolve operational or personnel issues in a timely manner.

  • Analyze and resolve work problems; recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product or service quality.

  • Coordinate activities with other supervisors and departments to ensure effective workflow and communication.

  • Ensure accurate completion of documentation, production records, inventory records, maintenance reports, or other required reports.

  • Monitor equipment, materials, and departmental resources; recommend repairs, replacements, or procurement as necessary.

  • Participate in accident, injury, or incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, quality, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost-control measures.

  • Perform hands-on operational duties as needed.

  • Complete additional assignments as directed by management.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree, technical training, trade certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 1–5 years of experience in Slitter manufacturing, prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Area-specific technical knowledge relevant to Slitter.

  • Working knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), quality standards, and company policies.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate policies and expectations clearly to employees.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to use company operational systems (e.g., SAP or other ERP systems).

  • Ability to analyze data, production schedules, and performance metrics.

  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements.


Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Frequently required to use hands, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

  • Occasionally required to sit.

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, varying temperatures, and noise levels.
